Weston Turville · United Kingdom · General Construction
The Chequers Inn, located in Weston Turville, Buckinghamshire, is a historic building constructed in phases from the mid-17th century through to the post-war era. Today, it enjoys a strong local reputation as a high-end dining destination.
The building comprises predominantly solid floors at various heights, reflecting the differing levels of the surrounding ground. Its walls are constructed from a mix of methods and materials, including timber frames with brick infill, solid brickwork, and assorted combinations of random stone and flint.
Significant rising damp had severely affected both interior and exterior wall surfaces, with substantial deposits of hygroscopic salts present throughout much of the brick masonry. As part of a broader refurbishment scheme, Freezteq Original was used to address the issue.
Freezteq was selected as the damp-proofing approach for the restoration at The Chequers due to its adaptability, offering a unified solution to the moisture problems across the variety of construction types present in the building.
The treatment, along with suitable replastering, successfully stopped the rising damp. The walls were left dry, stable, and able to breathe—crucial for old buildings.
