Staffordshire · United Kingdom · Residential Structures
Staffordshire, located in the heart of England’s Midlands, is home to a wide variety of residential architecture. This particular property—a relatively modern house likely constructed during the 1970s or 1980s—was experiencing issues due to the failure of its original damp-proof course, which had been installed at the time of the build.
Freezteq was chosen by a trusted local contractor, appointed by the homeowners to address the problem and restore the interior walls to a liveable and aesthetically acceptable standard.
Common indicators of rising damp were clearly visible on the ground floor, including discolouration of the paintwork, damage to skirting boards, and the unwelcome presence of mould growth.
A decision was made to install a new damp-proof course along the full span of the affected wall. To facilitate this, 22 mm holes were drilled into the appropriate mortar course—positioned just above the initial damp-proof course at intervals of 110 mm. These holes were then blown out and thoroughly cleaned.
Once all necessary preparations were completed, the Freezteq frozen rods were inserted on the same day. Upon installation, the drilled holes were sealed and repointed using fresh mortar, effectively concealing any evidence of the remedial work on the wall surface.
