Brick Manufacturing Plant

The Tajerouine Brickworks Factory is part of an ongoing industrial development in Tunisia. Providing the local area with over 200 jobs, this site was a welcome addition to an already successful industrial zone.

To support the manufacturing operations of the factory, there are several water tanks which are a critical part of the site infrastructure.

Contractor SBF Groupe selected to include Xypex Admix C-Series in the concrete mix design to provide integral waterproofing of the structure. Concrete can be waterproofed on mass using as Xypex Admix, however, at the static joint where concrete shrinkage may take place, a hydrophilic expandable waterbar is a simple solution to seal the gap.

In order to complete the waterproofing, Manorteq HydroBar Original was installed in the construction joints between pours, therefore ensuring the sustained operational use of the water tanks.

Manorteq HydroBar Original works in synergy with the structure and becomes an integral element of the waterproofing solution. Developed to have an increased resistance to “wash out” compared to other traditional bentonite waterbar products on the market, the inclusion of Manorteq HydroBar Original meant the contractor could extend the service life of these concrete structures.
