Rehabilitation of Activation Tank

After years of service, approximately 3400 m² of the activation tank in the Plzeň WWTP was damaged by operating fluids, physical and chemical attack and required rehabilitation.

It was agreed that the walls of the existing activation tank would be fully recoated with Manorteq AquaRend Thix repair mortar and the slabs would be coated with Xypex Concentrate.

To do this, it was essential that first all structures were cleaned and local repairs were completed in areas where the substrate was damaged to a greater depth. To allow for surface rehabilitation of the concrete wall, installation of Manorteq AquaRend Fix-B and anchors was chosen as it has a high chemical resistance and requires minimal cover.

Once the reinforcement was installed, Manorteq AquaRend Thix mortar was applied to create the full layer. After curing, the surface was coated with an impregnation colour coat, to unify the slightly different appearance on the repaired structures.
