Project Description

Contractor Konsit chose to utilise a full system approach in this residential project found in Prague, Czech Republic. Although undertaken as one project, the construction can be split in to 2 sections. This comprised of a new build foundation for an extension alongside renovation of the existing structure.

As an important part of an integral watertight solution, the Manorteq Rigid WaterBar range was utilised on the extension of Villa Anna to compliment the Xypex Admix C-Series technology in the new concrete. Both the Manorteq WaterBar Rigid KJ and CJ were chosen to prevent moisture/water from the outside environment rising through the working joint to the interior.

To complete the watertight solution, Konsit opted to seal the tie-bolts by first installing a Manorteq FormRing on the rebars prior to concrete casting, and then applying a Manorteq FormPlug into each hole, once the concrete had been cast and cured.

The complete system, from one supply chain, was chosen as it offered a significant reduction in time, simplification of the project and, last but not least, a notable reduction in the amount of money needed for the complete protection of the substructure.

For the rehabilitation of the existing structure, this can again be split in to 2 sections, below ground waterproofing and above ground damp proofing.

Below ground, Manorteq AquaRend Thix was chosen for both internal and external protection. Designed specifically for waterproofing, patching and resurfacing of deteriorated concrete and masonry structures, Manorteq AquaRend Thix provided protection from the backfilled soil as well as reprofiling of the internal concrete surfaces.

Above ground, Freezteq Original was installed at the base of all existing brickwork to prevent moisture rising up the masonry from the surrounding soil. From the newly installed Freezteq Original chemical DPC and above, the Freezteq Breathable Render system was applied to allow the latent water to be released as vapour, whilst containing the salts within, but still dry to touch.
